Winnie (The Crazy Film Lady)

Winnie is a co-founder of Fat Mouse Productions Ltd. As Creative Director, she is responsible for the company’s film projects.

Her first project was ‘The F-Word’, which she directed when she was 14. The production consisted of a 5 minute short drama and a 35 minute video documentary. It was nominated for a number of awards worldwide and won three. In the UK it was nominated at the Dundee Film Festival and for the Young Edinburgh Awards.

Following this Winnie went on to become involved in a number of film and arts projects. She co-presenting at the opening night of Cinema China, a 10 day film festival in Edinburgh; helped launch the Filmhouse initiated “Teen Project” aimed at attracting younger audiences to film; and was spokeswoman for the arts nominations at the Young Edinburgh Awards in 2007. As Scottish Opera's ambassador to young people in Edinburgh she produced a documentary following a Scottish Opera workshop.

Other commitments included involvement with Young Scot, the Edinburgh Youth Council and the Scottish Youth Parliament. She was involved with the Young Edinburgh Communications Group, responsible for advertising and marketing specific projects to young people. From 2007-2008 Winnie was on the Health Advisory Board working on the new Sick Kids’ Hospital design.

At the Edinburgh International Film Festival 2008 Winnie was invited to form part of the jury judging the Primary Vision and Secondary Vision categories. She helped select a total of 18 short films that were screened over a three day slot at the festival and presented awards for both these categories.
